THE BIO LINER
When I started Pokkelokkie many years ago, I was dead against throwing ANYTHING in the bin if there was an alternative. I mean, I am still a lot like that but I have also learnt that not everyone is (obviously) and that it’s important to offer things to others to help them live as sustainably as they can, in their own capacity, not mine.
So hail the disposable liner!
We have been chatting to a lot of mums recently (because we love researching what’s really going on out there in the nappy world) and moms are definitely loving the option of using a bio liner, especially with the Snappit Pro style of nappy where there is no elastic hugging the bum to contain that deed!
So what is a bio liner?
They are usually made of bamboo fibre or wood pulp and are sold in rolls for around R80 to R120, depending on the brand. You can get them online almost anywhere as well as in shops like Dis-Chem, Clicks or chemists. You simply tear one off and lay it over the nappy. Because they are so wide, these liners generally catch all that sticky poop and when you take the nappy off, you can choose to flush it or throw it away. Be careful when flushing, as we have heard of drain blockages. Read the packet.
We have tried all types of liners and some are bigger than others. The ones we know work well are Cherubs from Checkers, My Earth from Clicks and Mother Nature ones from Faithful to Nature. Let us know if you use a good one. Sharing is caring. :)
We do plan to get our own in early next year, so watch this space. But for now, if you are not keen on the bidet spraying, opt for these. They are biodegradable and work very well!
